AXLE LOGISTICS BUILDING NEW KNOXVILLE HEADQUARTERS

New Space Designed to Allow Growth, Appeal to Talent

Knoxville, Tenn. Work is now underway on a new headquarters for Axle Logistics, a $13 million project that will help extend downtown northward.

“We are redoing this 1920 building not just to accommodate growth, but to have the kind of outstanding facility that will appeal to young, talented people with ambition and drive,” said Axle cofounder Drew Johnson. “Where they work, and what kind of place in which they work makes a real difference.”

Cofounder Jon Clay said the firm will add almost 50 new employees by the time the work is done. “And we expect to add another 200 over the next five years,” said Clay. “We’ll have a real impact on the community and plan on being a great neighbor.”

The project earned a 15-year Payment In Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) incentive from both the City of Knoxville and Knox County. It was also approved by the Industrial Development Board.

“It’s terrific when we can see an old building brought back to life and see new jobs created,” said Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon. “That’s truly a win/win and it’s good for the city.”

“Axle Logistics is the kind of homegrown success story we all love,” said Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs. “They started here, have continually grown and serve clients all over the country as well as in Canada and Mexico. We’re glad to help them expand.”

Axle Logistics is a growing Knoxville company with a focus on providing safe, reliable, advanced logistics services. That includes truckload, less than truckload (LTL), intermodal, and warehousing to customers throughout the continental U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Axle has been repeatedly named to the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list and has been recognized as both a Top Workplace and a Top Freight Brokerage firm.

The company is virtually always expanding and looking for people who are drawn to an entrepreneurial culture, a work hard/play hard environment, are tech savvy and appreciate autonomy.

The new headquarters project is being managed by Conversion Properties, was designed by Design Innovation Architects and is being built by Denark Construction.
